Welcome Back!

Beginning a new school year is always full of excitement and anticipation.  There will be lots of familiar faces in our classroom and a few new ones too!  All of the teachers have been working hard to provide a place where children can learn in a productive, respectful, and safe environment.  We have so many great things to explore this year!

This website will be a great tool in keeping parents caught up with what is happening in our classroom, our school, and the school district.   During the next few weeks I will be adding our schedule for the day, pickup information, volunteer opportunities, and a lot more.

The most important information to know on the first day is that school now begins at 7:55 am for the intermediate students.  We no longer have a morning recess, but still have a snack time at 9:30 am.  We have a late lunch so purchasing or bringing a health snack will be essential!  Lunch recess is at 12:35 pm and lunch at 1:00 pm.  There are now a couple of options for the end of the day.  The first option is for students to be picked up at 3:05 pm and to not attend our end of the day recess.   If students stay for the end of the day recess they will either ride their regular bus home at or be picked up in the grade school cafeteria at 3:35 pm.

On Tuesday students will visit either Funky Monkeys with Mrs. Swanson or band with Mr. Kilgore.  Then on Wednesday they will switch to the one that they didn’t visit on Tuesday.  On Thursday they will attend the option (Funky Monkey or Band) that they are choosing for the school year.  There is an important yellow piece of paper that is going home with students on Monday that fully explains this.

Please be sure to call (503-261-4234), email (mdawkins@corbett.k12.or.us), or stop by our classroom (room 12) with any questions!

Michelle Dawkins About Michelle Dawkins

My husband and I have lived in Corbett since 1983 and I have taught at Corbett Grade School since 1994. Chris and I loved having our children grow up in the community of Corbett. They both received a great education and made many life long friends while attending school here. Both Steph and Joe graduated from Corbett. Joe is a graduate of Oregon State University and Steph has graduated from Linfield College and completed her MBA at University of Tennessee. Chris and I are extremely proud of our children! Both are enjoying life and share our love of nature.

"If a child is to keep his inborn sense of wonder, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement, and mystery of the world we live in." ~Rachel Carson
