It was another busy week! Hearing poems from the students this week has been a special treat. Those who have not yet presented are scheduled for sometime in the next three weeks. Remember, practice the poem multiple times in order to present it fluently, expressively, and with appropriate volume.
The weather cooperated on Wednesday for our field trip to The Dalles. (THANK YOU, CHAPERONES!) We attended a presentation about Native Americans and then explored the Discovery Center. It provided a great preview of Lewis and Clark’s expedition, which we will be studying soon. After lunch, we viewed the petroglyphs at Columbia Hills State Park. Plan to take your family there next spring, as guided tours are offered from April to October. Check out the website at http://www.parks.wa.gov/parks/?selectedpark=Columbia%20Hills&subject=interp for reservation information.
This morning, our volunteer firefighters joined us for a fire safety presentation. Please review the prevention information that was sent home and discuss and practice your family’s fire escape plan. Remember to head to the Corbett Fire Station between noon and 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 15th, for hot dogs, chili, fire truck rides, and fire safety demonstrations.
