Week 12 by Kali AnDyke

This week in Mr.Leones classroom we have started Egyptian related research.  Every student has been  asked to pick a subject for their research paper and their speech.  Our first assignment is a visual that is due on Monday, 11/28.

Mr.Leone is currently reading  The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate. by, Jacqueline Kelly.  Most of the class is enjoying hearing how ‘Cali’ is dealing with her problems.  This week, her Mother wants Cali to become a ‘young lady’ and proceed to “come out”.  Though Cali has different ideas; she’s planning on going to the university to become a scientist.  But this is pretty hard to do in the early 1900’s. How can Cali do what she dreams to be but still please her family?

In science we are learning about simple machines to better understand how the Egyptians made their amazing architectural  feats.  This week we learned about inclined planes, wedges, and screws.

We have started short stories based on Harris Burdick’s mysterious pictures.  We work on them in class for ten minutes a day.  We are all having a great time with this!
