Author Study: Ezra Jack Keats

This month we begin an author study of Ezra Jack Keats! Keats is a Caldecott winner for his book The Snowy Day. Born in Brooklyn in 1916, Keats was inspired by the community he was a part of. He drew from his own experiences to tell stories which transcended culture, race and socioeconomic backgrounds.

By the time of his death in 1983, he had written and illustrated 24 children’s classics, and had illustrated 85 children’s books.

Check out his website for more information, a list of all of his books,

and fun activities!

Bekah Tucker About Bekah Tucker

This is my seventh year as a primary classroom teacher. I have also been a long-term substitute, a special education teaching assistant and an english preschool teacher in Prague.

Outside of teaching, my passions are traveling, trying new restaurants, strong coffee, being with friends and family, and enjoying the beauty of the Columbia River Gorge.

I love being a Corbett teacher!
