Bob Dunton About Bob Dunton

After 10 years of teaching and administering in Southwest Alaska and Eastern Oregon, Bob served as superintendent of Corbett Schools from 1999 through 2010 when he resigned to direct Corbett Charter School.

The improvement of Corbett Schools during Bob's tenure was recognized by the Oregon Department of Education, Oregon School Boards Association, the National Middle Schools Association, the Confederation of Oregon School Administrators, The College Board, U.S. News and World Report, and Newsweek Magazine. The latter two publications each recognized Corbett as among the top schools in the nation from 2008 to 2010.

Bob co-founded Corbett Charter School in 2009, and he, Sheri Dunton (co-founder), and Kieran Egan (the creator of Imaginative Education), serve on the Corbett Charter School Association Board of Directors.

Bob is an avid reader, hesitant walker and occasional thinker. He has spoken to unsuspecting audiences at myriad state, regional and national fora. Most recently he addressed the League of Oregon Charter Schools on the topics of 'Student Achievement' and 'Imaginative Education'. He is an idealist who still believes in the value of words like 'fora' even though they are impractical and will likely be extinct within the next generation.

His retirement plan includes the founding of a 'Logos Conservancy' non-profit for the protection of endangered words and ideas.
