Week 1 in Mr. Houck’s Class: 2012-2013, by Makayla Cannon

Every week one student in our class gets to sit out the super quiz and write the weekly update on our class.  This week’s update was done by 8th grader Makayla Cannon.  Thanks, Makayla!

This week in Mr. Houck’s class we learned each other’s names and something fun each person did over the summer.  We also made our personal care instructions, which explain how to make this an awesome school year for everyone. Not to mention, we watched Earth videos, about the earth itself and the layers that make up the planet, and we started our first read-aloud book, The True Meaning of Smekday.

We also picked lockers and mailboxes, learned about our Cardinal Three requirements, played kickball for P.E. on Tuesday, and did vocabulary skits. And we chose our electives for the year, took our math placement tests, and got our assigned seats.

Overall, I think it was a really excellent start to a fun school year here in Mr. Houck’s room.
