Week 9 by Kohl Cutler

This week in Mr. Leone’s class we are on book talks; how they work and what the expactations are.  We get to become a character from a book we love and share with the class.  This project is being graded as a speech and is due on wednesday, October 31.

We are also working on our chapter 5 memoirs about a special school event.  The due date for our polished chapter 5 is Monday the 29.  Every week we focus on a new aspect of our writing, this week it’s transitions.

For our read aloud book we are reading Bad Boy by Walter Dean Myers.  It’s an interesting memoir of an African American boy that has a hard time in school.

We are also learning vocabulary words, what the definition is and playing little games to help us remember them.  We have done skits, charades and pictionary.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for November 15th.  That is the night of our author’s cafe.  We will be reading our favorite chapter from our memoir that night.  Come on out and hear us!

And that is all you need to know about what is happing in Mr. Leone’s class.
