A Note From Athletic Director JP Soulagnet and the Booster Club by Randy Trani

Cardinal Nation:

The Volleyball team made quick work of the Honkers from Lakeview winning in three short sets this past Saturday in their first round state contest.  They will be on their way to Lane Community College where the final 8 teams will be vying for the state championship.  The team will travel down Thursday, November 8th after school and spend the night in the Eugene area as they prepare for an early 8:00am match against Creswell on Friday morning, November 9th.  Wish them luck if you get the chance and swing on down to Eugene to catch that first match on Friday.  You would only have to leave the Portland/Metro area by 5:45am or so.  Brackets can be seen at www.osaa.org to see times for later contests.

Girls Soccer will host a first round state match against Santiam Christian this Tuesday, November 6th at 6:00pm over at Barlow High School.  Both of our playing fields are very wet.  The football field is a mud pit and the soccer field is somewhat of a lake so neither promotes good soccer.  Our girl’s team uses more of a passing/finesse style of play so when the ball splats in the mud or pool of water it changes the game.  Wish them luck as well and take a quick trip over to Barlow to come support these gals if you have the opportunity tonight.  If our girls win Tuesday evening they will be playing at Oregon Episcopal School on Saturday.  Time of match will be decided keeping in mind the possibility of watching both our girls soccer and volleyball teams on Saturday.

Have a great week.
