Week 23 in Room 9 by Bryce McKenney

Attached to this post are the papers that show what the current projects are. Your student has a written copy, but it’s here if you need it.  The big deal right now is Space Museum and Civil War.   We have the space museum paper, and the Civil War paper.  Hopefully that will help you understand a little bit more about what these projects are.

This week we did a lot of fun stuff. We did more research for our Civil War project. Our rough draft was due today (Thursday, Feb. 14, 13) and our final draft is due next Friday. Also, students should have a topic picked for their visual, speech and group presentations for the Civil War unit.

We also started a simulation of the Civil War. We have a Destiny Dice game, where someone rolls two dice, and there are different things that happen to you/your group, depending on what you roll. For an example, one might be “You get captured, and your feet get chopped off. Lose 20 points”.

On Tuesday, we finished our read aloud book called Divergent by Veronica Roth. Yesterday we started reading a new book called Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card. Everybody loved Divergent, and for some people it was their second or third time reading it. I would definitely recommend that book.

Sincerely,

Bryce McKenney
