March Update: Progress Conferences, Dr. Seuss, Recycling, and 2013-2014 Enrollment

Hello Corbett Preschool Families!  Did you know that this Saturday, March 2, is Dr. Seuss’ birthday?  We’ll be celebrating our favorite Doctor all week at school with Dr. Seuss themed mornings, and a crate of our favorite books to read all day!  What is your favorite Dr. Seuss book?

It’s official: preschool is having mid-year progress conferences for interested families!  It won’t be anything fancy, just a wonderful chance for us to sit down face to face and talk about how much your child has grown since the beginning of the year.  I would also like to use this time to talk about individual student goals for the upcoming months.  Conferences will be about 20 minutes long, and take place over the two weeks of March 11 through 21.  Look for a sign up sheet outside of our classroom or email Ms. Cook (tcook@corbett.k12.or.us) to reserve a spot!

A new addition to our classroom is the recycling bin in the hallway.  We will incorportate the re-useable items into our classroom art projects, and for inventing new things at the creation station.  We welcome your rinsed and cleaned contributions to this recycle bin from home!  Things that are especially useful are toilet paper rolls, paper towel rolls, bottle caps, egg cartons, lids of all types, and any small unusual items like jewelry boxes and film canisters.  We ask that please, only items small enough to fit in the bin be contributed.  Next week we will be making lots of turtles to go along with Yertle the Turtle.  We need lots of egg cartons for the math game we’ve got in mind, so let’s kick our recycling bin off with a bang!

We made a super ramp in the block center!

Last but not least, enrollment forms will be emailed this week for the upcoming 2013-2014 school year.  Secure your spot for next year by returning your form and $50 enrollment fee to the main office ASAP, March 15 at the latest.

We made volcanoes to celebrate the letter V with Vicky Violet!

Have a wonderful weekend,

Ms. Cook
