Week of April 29th

Happy springtime! We spent the afternoon outside today – planting native species in our outdoor classroom with the help of Bethany and Sarah, the ECO ladies, running the trail for PE, and even listening to our read-aloud. (It didn’t take much convincing for me to agree with that wonderful suggestion.)

I certainly enjoyed the Pioneer concert on Monday evening. It was good to see many of you there. We are so fortunate to have a marvelous music program. Thanks for your support!

Most of our students that needed to retake the OAKS state test finished this week. Some passed this time around, and most of the others improved by several points. A couple even showed over a year’s growth in the past two months. Remarkable!

Two field studies are scheduled for next week. We will visit Rowena Plateau in the eastern gorge on Tuesday, and Bridal Veil Park on Wednesday morning. Our goal is to observe, compare, and sketch the wildflowers, but we will be attentive to whatever we find! If you volunteered to chaperone either day, please arrive by 8 a.m. On Tuesday, we should return by three. On Wednesday, it should be around 10:30ish. Thanks for helping out!

Just a reminder – We need a signed and dated note any time that you send medication for your child to take at school. Please make sure that it is in the original container. This even applies to cough drops or over-the-counter medicine. Thanks!

Please save 2 liter bottles for us. We only have one so far, and will need a dozen or more for our rocket design project at the end of May. You can send them in anytime in the next two weeks.

I am still missing two field study permission slips, two home language surveys, and a few jogathon pledges. Please get those turned in on Monday.

The CAPS lottery is now open.  If you are interested in openings at Springdale, see the article on the district website for important information.
