Week 35 in Mr. Houck’s Class, by Kaya Walsh

Every week one student in our class gets to sit out the super quiz and write the weekly update.  This week’s update was done by 7th grader Kaya Walsh.  Thanks, Kaya!

This week in Mr. Houck’s class we shared our nutrition brochures. Some of the topics were school lunches and diabetes. We also did impromptu speeches where we had to try to convince the audience that our topic should be the case.

We did two challenges, one of which was we had to put a marshmallow on the top of the tower. In the other we had to make the tower hold paper and it was also a scientific inquiry.

We also listened to twelve more amazing 8th grade speeches.

My personal favorite thing that we did was the scientific inquiry for two reasons: #1, I’m a fan of science, and #2, we got to build different structures and test how much paper the tower could hold.
