What is the average of 19 6th graders, 10 pizzas, and 142 Jolly Ranchers? A pretty good time, and another victory for Corbett!
Mr. Leone and I again took the 6th grade math team to Skyview High School to compete in the annual ‘Math Is Cool’ competition. This one had been snowed out in February and rescheduled for this weekend, so we had the pleasure of traveling with Mrs. Handy and her team of 5th graders.
Our middle school team has continued to grow–the 19 students we had this time was the biggest yet! Our 6th graders took individual and team tests, performed mental math, completed the team relay, and challenged other schools in the College Bowl round. And once again, their hard work and effort paid off; Corbett took 2nd place overall in Division II, and Megan Potts earned 4th place for the highest scoring individuals. Way to go, everyone!
Of course, no math competition would be complete without pre-travel karaoke and games of single-projectile dodgeball in the commons, photobombs at inopportune moments, and the consumption of ridiculous amounts of food. This year’s squad of 6th graders could handle it. 6th graders of the future–can you???
