Poems of the Week! Week 31 by Avenir Tkachenko

Every week one student in our class gets to sit out the super quiz and write the weekly update.  This week’s update was done by 6th grader Avenir Tkachenko.  Thanks, Avenir!

This week in Mr. Houck’s class we are finishing the 10 word steal, which is a poem made from 10 words that we stole from another poem by our author. We just finished our reading letters and we have a big project called a Poetry Anthology. The Poetry Anthology is a book with all the poem assignments that we will be doing.

One of my favorite parts about the Poetry Anthology is the 10 word steal. I think that it is a good way to let us kids read more poems and get attracted to our poet. We also shared our after poems. To make the after poem we took one of our favorite poems and made our own versions of it and it was pretty amazing.

We are also working on the body systems and this week we were studying the Digestive system. We learned lots of new things like all the passageways food goes through.

The last things we are studying are invertebrates. The invertebrates are really cool because we each got assigned to a group of animals and we have to make a skit or a presentation, I think it will be really cool with all the creative minds we have in our class and I can’t wait to see what we have in store!
