Ice Dam Challenge and Author Visit

Students were challenged to build an ice dam (marshmallows and frosting) strong enough to withstand a pool of water (blue jello). They worked in groups of 3 to construct their walls, and then took them outside to flood them. The pouring rain made it feel pretty real! As you will see in the photos, absolutely no frosting was consumed in the making of our dams 🙂 Also: Thank you families for your donations!

We were also lucky to enjoy a visit from David Shapiro, author of Terra Tempo. This graphic novel about the Missoula Floods has informed much of our instruction this winter.

Bekah Tucker About Bekah Tucker

This is my seventh year as a primary classroom teacher. I have also been a long-term substitute, a special education teaching assistant and an english preschool teacher in Prague.

Outside of teaching, my passions are traveling, trying new restaurants, strong coffee, being with friends and family, and enjoying the beauty of the Columbia River Gorge.

I love being a Corbett teacher!
