First Week Back (whether you like it or not)

After a week of no school we came back and hit the ground running, starting straight off with an assignment to collect an anthology of poems. A lot of people weren’t excited about this, but soon realized that there’s some amazing poems out there. So many genres exist, and everyone has different opinions as to what’s a good poem. We also had the task of creating a free-verse poem from answers to questions we were asked.

Our class also began to study the circulatory system and did an activity including straws and clay, representing arteries and LDL (low density) cholesterol. It really helped show a visual representation of what a blood clot looks like. We also went through the most common causes of heart diseases, and how we can prevent them. Mrs. Young helped us understand why exercise plays a big role in our overall health.

All in all, the first week back wasn’t as bad as you might have made it out to be. But to everyone’s dread, next week will be the beginning of state testing. Our teachers remind us to get good rest, don’t stress too much (it’s bad for your arteries) and to try your hardest. But don’t get too discouraged, after all, Wildhorse is just a few weeks away!
