Beehive Buzz

Hi,

We are so excited to start the school year that we wanted to send out an email early to get a head start! Ms. Brounstein (Ms. B) and Ms. Lieuallen (Ms. L-that’s me!) will often send out class emails together.

This Thursday (8/23) everyone is invited to the annual community back to school celebration from 6:00 until 7:30 PM.  Enjoy a free hotdog or hamburger (6-6:30 at main campus). CAPS students and parents can grab a burger or hotdog at the main campus and then feel free to go to CAPS between 6:30 and 7:30 for a CAPS specific meet and greet. Feel free to bring your school supplies and drop them off in the classroom!

For new students (Kinders and 1st or 2nd graders that are new this year), our first day will be Monday 8/27. Please be here no later than 7:55am. Parents are invited to join us until 9am. Students will be dismissed at 12:30pm.

If you plan to be a volunteer at any point in the year, or would like to attend any of our field trips, you MUST have your volunteer paperwork filled out prior to. Please see Nancy in the office for paperwork. This must be redone each year and includes a Confidentiality Agreement form and Background Check.

Things to bring on the first day:

  • Supplies (if you didn’t bring them in advance)
  • We highly encourage you to send an extra set of clothes with your child to keep in their cubby in case of an accident or a spill in the mud!
  • Backpack and lunch and snack (or hot lunch and snack can be ordered)
  • Rubber Boots for garden (please make sure they fit and have student’s name)
  • A pair of P.E. shoes if your child wears sandals or dress shoes on most days

We will be sending more info soon so keep a lookout in your inbox! Please see the attachments!

All the best!

Jessica Lieuallen and Sara Brounstein

Greetings Beehive Families,

Ms. B and I are looking forward to the first week of school. It was really fun meeting our new students and families at the Open House last night, and we are so excited to meet the rest of you!

Here are a few upcoming events:

August 27th: Transition Day: 7:55am-12:20pm. This is only for Kinders and any new 1st and 2nd graders. Parents are invited to stay until 9am. We will have snack and lunch, so please either send a snack/lunch or inform your child to order (we will show them how but it is helpful to tell them so they know to order). Please also send in supplies.

August 28: 7:55am-3:35pm. First day for all students.

September 3: No school, Labor Day

September 7: Friday School. Anytime we have a Monday holiday, plan to have school the following Friday.

Sept. 11: Volunteer meeting, 3:45pm in Beehive

If you would like to contribute to the classroom, here are a few ways to do so: We have a wishlist going on Amazon, we can ALWAYS use help in the classroom with project prep and if you are able to volunteer please fill out the attached forms and send in ASAP. We will be having a volunteer meeting soon. If you want to help with prep items but cannot come into the classroom, we often have projects we can send home. Please email us and let us know you are interested!

Attachments include: Show and Tell Schedule, Beehive Handbook

Warm Regards,

Ms. L and Ms. B

Hello Beehive Families!

We are seeking garden volunteers! Rose is our garden leader. If anyone wants to help on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 2:15-3:15pm or on a drop by basis contact her at 503-459-7895, text is the best way to coordinate.

Please consider signing up for Remind! This is a great app that we use to send out quick reminders. It is kind-of like getting a text from us! We love it! Emailing us directly is always the best form of communication for us, but we will use Remind for last minute details and reminders.

Beehive Amazon “wish list” is now up and running! http://a.co/3vAHYf0

The kids have decided to be working hard to earn an ice cream party as a reward for “filling each other’s buckets”. This means that acts of genuine kindness and helpfulness can earn a warm fuzzy in our jar. After they earn 10 we will celebrate with an ice cream party.  Please let us know if you prefer your child has a non-dairy (probably sorbet) option, we will gladly provide that! (The kids voted on the prize, fyi).

Please let us know if you have ANY questions or concerns!!

Ms. L and Ms. B
