11/2 -Classroom Update

Dear Families,

Highlights:

We are well into our journalism unit learning to be careful observers, utilizing the 5 W’s when writing leads, & learning the text features of news articles, We enjoyed our first earned Marble Party (thank you Jen, Pam, Lanell, Lynn, Stacie, & Missy for helping with supplies!), & We learned to plot points in order to create maps in Cartography.
Our Creative Dramatics artist in resident, Mrs. Flinn–through the Right Brain Initiative–showed us how to use sound in story telling and teamwork in order to be empathetic problem solvers.

I have compiled the list of parents gave permission to share their information for the purpose of arranging activities with friends outside of school. Please see your email for instructions on how to access this information.
I also attached a current “hard copy” to this email. Enjoy!

Reminders:

Writers have spelling words! I have attached the words to email (just in case the list did not make it home). Writers are tested on 10 random words from this list.
Readers have a home reading log to track their reading. They can fill it out when they read at home OR they can fill it out when they arrive at school in the morning. Readers can access this log through our Google Classroom.

PTA: Jog-A-Thon & Box Tops:

Box Tops: The PTA is continuing to collect Box Tops for Education. A labeled jar is located in our classroom.
