Mrs. Young’s Weekly Newsletter

I know it is Sunday afternoon, so this is a tad late. Here are some quick updates that you might be interested in:

  • Progress reports will be coming home on Wednesday. Please look over your child’s progress report with them and discuss how they feel school is going and perhaps brainstorm some goals for the winter.
  • Thank you to all of you that made purchases at the Book Fair last week. It was wildly successful and because of its success, each teacher earned around $160 that they could spend at the Book Fair on books for their classroom. I was able to add to our classroom library with a wide variety of books. I am sure the kids will be excited to read these books.
  • Our canned food and supplies drive continues until Tuesday, December 18th. If you’re able to, please send in nonperishable food items and/or helpful household supplies. These will be used to assist local families in need during this holiday season.
  • HUGE congrats go out to the following students for attending every day of school during the first trimester: Brighton, Shayla and Savin.
  • The 4th/5th grade classrooms are participating in an Ugly Sweater Contest the last week of school. Students will be encouraged to fully embrace a sweater from their wardrobe that is both tacky and celebratory of the good times we have in December.
  • White Elephant Gift Exchange is always a fun activity that everyone loves. Please have your child look around their room for something that they no longer need or play with. This can be a book, a small toy, etc. something that someone else will enjoy. Please have your kiddo wrap it up and bring it to school by Wednesday, December 19th. I will have extras for anyone who does not have a white elephant gift so this way everyone can participate.
