Important Graduation Ceremony Details

Dear Seniors and Senior Families,

The Graduation Committee is excited to share with you our finalized plan for the Graduation Ceremony on June 20th!

Please know that we are trying to create a memorable experience for the seniors under circumstances we have not experienced before, but we believe with your help we can do it!

Social Distancing guidelines will need to be followed carefully by all participants in order to keep our students and staff safe.  This includes wearing a mask when you are out of your car, and maintaining 6 feet of social distance.

In addition, assuming we are in Phase 1, we will only have 25 people out of vehicles at a time.  This includes the educators running the ceremony, the photographer, the sound man, and of course, the graduates.

The ceremony will be live-streamed, and the sound will be available on an FM radio station, in addition to the loud speakers.  Bring your devices to follow the ceremony, as we know that the trees in the parking lot may make it difficult to see everything.

Graduation Ceremony Order of Events

7:00 – Graduates and Families check in with Mrs. Childress and Mr. Pearson at the parking lot near the Troutdale Dairy Queen.  This includes the second car for families who have requested one.  (If you need one due to special circumstances, please check with Mrs. Childress at kchildress@corbett.12.or.us).  Cars will be assigned a parade number, and will follow a Corbett School bus up the hill to school.

7:15-7:45 – Parade will enter at the East driveway, near the gym, and drive past the Middle School to the Grade School parking lot.  Staff will be directing traffic, (large vehicles will be placed in the back row.)  Cars who have not checked in with Mrs. Childress or Mr. Pearson at the Dairy Queen  will be directed to wait until the parade has entered the parking lot before taking a spot.

Graduates and families must remain in their vehicles except for the presentation of diplomas.

8:00 – Presentations by CHAMPS

8:15 – Superintendent and Principal message

8:30 – Valedictorian Message

8:45 – Scholarship Announcements

9:00 – Presentation of Diplomas

9:30 – Senior Slideshow

10:00 – Fireworks

10:15 – Follow staff directions when exiting the parking lot as we will dismiss rows in an orderly fashion to ease the congestion.

Consideration of others will be important in order to make this a memorable experience for all, including keeping your car engine turned off during the ceremony.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Mrs. Childress at kchildress@corbett.k12.or.us.
