Thoroughly modern Millie is a Musical about a girl named Millie who moves to New York to become a modern woman. This play is set in 1922, at that time a “modern” was a person who kept up to date with fashions and new found styles. Millie has a hard time at the beginning but finds a way to pull it together. She finds friends and enemies. She discovers secrets and she finds love.

Millie is played by 17 year old Sierra Rickards who is new to Corbett Children’s Theater. She doesn’t attend Corbett school district but is welcomed gladly into the CCT family by the other actors and actresses. CCT is open to not only Corbett kids, but any children who want to join. Over the years, CCT has lost many actors and actresses because they have graduated, but gained many new students willing to fill their shoes. Sierra Rickards is happy to play the part of Millie Dillmount. This is a great part for her because she is a great actress and appears to shine on stage. Sierra has been in many plays with other theater groups including: Cinderella, Princess and the Pea, Rapunzel, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, Robin Hood, A Yearwith Frog and Toad, Anne of Green Gables and Narnia. The male lead, Jimmy Smith, is played by CJ Cruse a sophomore at Corbett High School. He has been in many CCT plays including: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Annie, Godspell, Anne of Green Gables and Oliver. In addition to the two leads there are also 34 other kids in this production.

Thoroughly Modern Millie directed by Katherine Zieman, who has directed one musical a year for the last 12 years, is only one of the many plays CCT has put on this year. Outsiders and Oliver were the last plays produced this year and if you enjoyed them you are sure to enjoy Thoroughly Modern Millie as well. CCT has a history of putting on quality plays so please come and support your local theater group.
