Policy interpretations and guidance surrounding this 1972 enactment about prohibited discrimination enforced by OCR (Office for Civil Rights)
– on the basis of sex (different treatment – no person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance) in recipient programs (e.g., academic counseling and advice)
– in regards to sexual harassment or gender-based harassment/sexual violence
– on the basis of sex in providing opportunities to participate in interscholastic athletics
