Corbett Grade School – Curriculum

Corbett School District follows the curriculum standards set forth by the Oregon Department of Education. All standards can be found by visiting the ODE website.

Corbett Grade School has designed Place Based curriculum to implement the ODE standards in certain subjects. The first year of our Place Based Education curriculum is heavy in the life sciences as students look at the plants and animals of the Columbia River Gorge. The second year is heavy in the earth sciences as students look at the geology and geography of the gorge. Both years use the social sciences of the past and present people of the gorge to move the story along. Documents outlining this can be found below.

Corbett Grade School also implements a reading and writing workshop based on the Units of Study developed by Lucy Calkins in partnership with the Teacher’s Reading and Writing College at Columbia University. Information regarding this important work can be found at the following links.
